Day 3.... Brugge to Uithoorn

Image
Another very long day. The weather is beautiful for our 2 hour walking tour of Brugge, often referred to as "The Venice of the North" with its many canals and more than 50 bridges.                       Many beautiful buildings.                                 Canal in Brugge.                    The heart of Brugge is the market square with its 83 meter- high (260 ft) Belfry.          From Brugge we drove to Asperen, The Netherlands, to visit the area where the story of Dirk Willems took place in 1569.         The church tower where Willems was imprisoned after his arrest the second time.           Kevin in shackles in the church tower.

We arrived in Belgium about 20 minutes late , around 7:30 this morning,  and had a very long line to go through security.     Took almost 2 hours until we got out and met Ayold. He thought we had gotten lost.     All of our luggage came through,  for which we are very thankful.   Beautiful warm, sunny day, temp around 25C.      Raf, our city tour guide was also at the airport. We went on a city bus tour, and then about 1 hour walking tour, seeing old cathedrals, and going to the city square of Grand Place. Many beautiful ornate buildings. Belgium is also famous for chocolates and we saw lots of chocolate shops.    I'm too tired to write more tonight, so will write more tomorrow about Ghent and Brugge.  Ghent is considered the richest architectural city in Belgium.     Graveenstein castle in Ghent, Belgium where over a hundred Anabaptist were tortured and killed for their faith.  One...

FINALLY,  we are at Toronto airport. Check in went very smoothly for which we thank God and for your prayers.     Howard Horst was our driver with Country Mile. We all met at Chervin, had very good travel, and arrived at Toronto airport with 4 hours to spare.    Almost everything is done electronically now. Security check went well, and we have time to relax before we board for Montreal.
